Home Connections is a three-year transitional housing program for homeless families with
dependent children or adults in which at least one family member is HIV-positive. The
program provides seven families with "Shelter Plus Care" housing vouchers that may be
used at scattered site apartments throughout the greater Boston and Cambridge areas.
Residents pay 30 percent of their total income towards rent. Home Connections participants
also receive home-based case management to assist with permanent housing search, legal
services, obtaining benefits, vocational training and edcuation, and other service areas.
To be eligible for Home Connections, applicants must have:
- Dependent children under age 21 OR dependent adult(s) living with other adult
family members
- Verification of HIV status for at least one family member
- Certificate of HUD-defined homelessness
- Income verification
