Founded in 1993 by CCA clients, the Drop-In Spot
provides a safe and comfortable space for clients
and serves as a gateway to other CCA services. The Drop-In Spot hosts special events
and coordinates monthly client luncheons and clothing drives. Peer Leaders staff the DIS, welcoming
newcomers to CCA and to the HIV-positive community with empathy, making all feel safe and breaking down the
isolation so often experienced by those living with HIV/AIDS. Peers coordinate movie nights,
recreational outings, and other community-building events for CCA clients. Once a trusting
relationship is established, the Peer Leaders refer clients to case
management for more intensive support.
