Each module will consist of narrated Powerpoint presentations, live online Blackboard discussions, readings, videoclips and Discussion Forum postings that can be completed at your own pace over the month.

An electronic certificate will be provided for the completion of each module and a separate hard copy certificate will be issued upon completion of the series.

  • 1. To identify the optimal conditions and callenges for children disclosing and testifying court
  • 2. To understand how children can be impacted by child abuse
  • 3. To explore child development considerations relevant to child testimony such as suggestibility, memory, comprehension and language

3. Court Roles, Rules and Legislation

November Module Teaching Objectives
  • 1. To familiarize participants with basic Canadian legislation relevant to child witnesses
  • 2. To understand the rules and expectations in Canadian courtrooms
  • 3. To identify Johnathan’s rules for testifying in court
  • 4. To recognize the challenges inherent in cross-examination by a defence lawyer

Court Preparation Research and Strategies
